Meeting Minutes
October 18, 2008


The Oak Grove Historical Society met Saturday, October 18 in the Davis Building. Vice President Bryan Hord called the meeting to order.

Minutes were read and approved. Treasurer reported a balance of $4,578.13.

Vice President Bryan Hord reported that the executive board had met and the Christmas open house will be from 2 to 6 p.m. on December 20 in the lower level of the Davis Center. Members will meet at 9 a.m. on that day to decorate. Karen will take care of the food table. Each member is to bring 2 dozen cookies each and crafts and goodies for the bake sale. Bryan will contact Santa. Wallace will see if the sleigh will fit through the doors. Members have contacted several music entertainers for the event. Pat Lewis will contact Ministerial Alliance to see if the announcement can be published in church bulletins. Final preparations will be made at the groups regular November 21st meeting.

General discussion held about involving Oak Grove students. Bryan will try to contact a Civil War enactment group about the possibility of an enactment in Frick Park.

Bryan also spoke about the Quantrill society that held its meeting in Oak Grove in October.

Joyce McCrander will send a card from the group to express regrets about the Corn grocery store closing this month.
