Meeting Minutes
August 16, 2008


Oak Grove Historical Society met August 16, 2008 at the Davis Center.

Vice-President Bryan Hord introduced Al Hale, Independence, a volunteer at Lone Jack Museum. Mr. Hale spoke to the group about the border wars and the Battle of Lone Jack.

President Karen Findley reported she had renewed the group's CD for 3 months at 3 percent and that she had spoken to the AARP group meeting about the historical society.

Minutes were read and approved. Treasurer reported a balance of $4,741.22 in the regular account.

Barbara Lefholz made a motion to place an order for 250 Christmas ornaments. Motion was seconded and approved. Date will be added to the ornament which features the Oak Grove Railroad Depot. Karen will order the ornaments.

Mary Turner made a motion to hold the Historical Society's Christmas Open House on December 20, a regular meeting day, at the Davis Center if allowed. Barbara Grifith seconded and the vote was unanimous. President Karen Findley will contact the Parks Department about use of the lower level of the Davis Center.

Members are to contact local talent about entertaining at the event.

Group was pleased to receive a gift of the original charter of the American Modern Woodsman from John and Victoria Thomson. Barbara Griffith will have the charter framed.
