On March 21, 2009 the Oak Grove Historical Society met at the Davis Center.
Vice President Pat Lewis called the meeting to order.
The minutes were read.
Hollis Dyer made the motion to approve the minutes and Cece Morgan seconded the motion.
Minutes were approved.
Evelyn Church, treasurer, reported a balance of $6905.60.
Cece Morgan asked that all ornaments be returned.
Under old business, Wallace Johnson mentioned he had an album about the Modern Woodsmen and Mary Turner had taken pictures of gravestones
of members of the Modern Woodsmen.
The Modern Woodsmen are similar to the Masons.
Greg McLallen is presently investigating the availability of grants for the Oak Grove Historical Society.
Wallace Johnson had a school sweater, football pants and other school clothing that had belonged to Warren Grayum.
Jeannie Grayum had given them to the Society along with some pictures.
Wallace asked Carol Grote if she would be able to store them.
Carol Grote was wondering if someone had storage space for the collection of period clothing she presently is storing in her home.
Pat Lewis stated that President Greg McLallen was seeking some direction on the Society's wishes regarding obtaining a building for display,
storage, and record keeping of donated articles in the Society's possession.
A discussion followed regarding possible building sites and storage safes to protect the donated items.
A committee consisting of Barbara Griffith, Mark Fulks, Wallace Johnson, Greg McLallen, Glen Lewis with assistance from Hollis Dyer was formed.
They are to report their findings at the April 2009 meeting.
Bryan Hord will continue to plan programs for the year 2009. He asked for suggestions for speakers and field trips.
A vote was taken for a future field trip to Arrow Rock/Blackwater as first choice or Truman Library as a second choice.
Becky Dyer made the motion to visit Arrow Rock/Blackwater and Mary Turner seconded the motion.
The motion was approved.
Bryan Hord and Becky Dyer will report at the April meeting when a vote will be taken on the date and time of the field trip.
Wallace Johnson shared pictures he had taken of the Ray Herald farm. The slave house has been moved to Missouri Town.
Barbara Griffith made a motion to adjourn. Cece Morgan seconded the motion. The meeting adjourned.
