The Oak Grove Historical Society met January 19, 2008 at the Davis Building.
President, Karen Findley, called the meeting to order. Minutes were read and approved. Treasurer reported a balance of $3,223.53. Treasurer reported a profit of $845.00 from the society's Christmas Open House.
Karen thanked everyone for their help and contributions to the open house. With special thanks to Bryan Hord and Wallace Johnson.
Under old business Bryan reported that work was proceeding on the federal tax number.
There are 30 plus christmas ornaments left. Plans needed to proceed for the second historical ornament for the Christmas 2008.
Hollis Dyer purchased commemorative plaques to honor Les and May George. Karen stated that we need a brief history of each person remembered on a plaque.
President Findley introduced the guest speakers Ann Mallinson, Centerview, and Nancy Lewis, Blue Springs, both members of the Missouri State Historical Societies Speaker's Bureau.
The two presented a lively history of Jackson County that was enjoyed by those in attendance. Mallinson also played the Dulcimer.
Meeting was adjourned. Next meeting will be Saturday, February 16.
